Why Join Us?
There are a large number of perks our partnered creators get as part of the process. Our main demographic is geared towards smaller creators but of course is open to anyone of any skill level but we will explain this with our main demographic in mind. The key pillars of working with us are Collaboration, Guidance, and Exposure.
Collaboration is encouraged for everyone, maybe you can't code but you are an excellent artist? We can introduce you to creators with complimentary skillsets so that your projects realise their true potential.
Guidance is a big part of who we are, we want our creators helping each other and lifting each other up. This may just be getting a second opinion or it could be that you have a question for someone with more experience than you. In any case we are here to help!
Exposure, the final piece and potentially the most useful. It's important that we start by saying that we do not use any algorithms or preferential selection amongst our content to determine how it is advertised within Ichor Studios. This is so important for us to mention because it means that regardless of your popularity or size you will always be on equal ground with everyone else.
So you want to know what actually happens when you join? Lets break it down by media type to make it easier for you!
Webcomics - The first thing we do is take a look at your comic/s to ensure it aligns with our values. We are as relaxed as they come but will not allow any hate speech or similar content. Once we give you the go ahead we will request a high quality copy of your comic which we will proceed to watermark and upload. We will only create one initial page for you to sign off on before we add the remainder. On this page will be a creator card which you can see details on in the 'Creator Cards' section below. Your comic will then be added to the left side-panel ads which shows ten at random from the list on every page of the site.
Games - We require a WebGL build of any games you want to host with us which we will test before coming back to you with any amendments that may need to be made. This will likely just include instructions on how to implement our leaderboard system which is tied to our websites logins and is a requirement for any score based games. We will also provide you with a splashscreen which needs to be added to the build. Once everything is confirmed you will be shown the page for you to sign off on which includes your creator card which you can see details on in the 'Creator Cards' section below. Your games will then be added to the left side-panel ads which shows ten at random from the list on every page of the site.
Podcasts - We personally use Anchor.fm to publish our in-house podcasts and we do recommend it based on our experience. The key thing is that it is hosted on Spotify or a comparable service that allows embedding. If you are unsure if you can embed it or not just reach out and we will check for you! We ask that the cover art for the podcast uses a small Ichor Studios watermark and/or that Ichor Studios is mentioned in the intro or outro messages. Once everything is confirmed you will be shown the page for you to sign off on which includes your creator card which you can see details on in the 'Creator Cards' section below. Your podcast will then be added to the left side-panel ads which shows ten at random from the list on every page of the site.
Streaming - Thankfully the popular streaming services already have T&C's in place so the criteria on this is more simple, do you have a stream? Ok cool send us the link and we can add it. We do ask that a small watermark be present on the stream and that within your info you have a link to Ichor Studios. Whenever your stream is live it will be shown on the streamers page. We will also add a creator card to the stream tile which you can see the details on in the 'Creator Cards' section below.
Creator Cards - What exactly is a creator card? Yep thought you'd ask that, lets have a look at mine!
Wow! How lovely, but what is it? Thankfully its simple to answer that. A creator card exists on each of your content pages and is also included within your stream (if you have one with us obviously!). The purpose of the creator card is to show people who made the thing they are looking at/listening to. It also functions as a place for up to nine links to be shown for the creator. These can be social links, donation links, or anything else that is related to you that you want advertised as part of your work. Provided that you have more than just one piece of content you will also have a 'More from' button added which takes users to a page with all of your content on it for them to look at. They also have the option to message you directly through the Ichor Studios instant messenger or just take a look at your profile.
What about money? - Like we said, we host it all for free, and any donations you receive you get 100% of. "But what do you get out of it?" you might ask, well we get content for our site, our site has ads so we get a teeny tiny amount from that but its more about facilitating building Ichor Studios, each creator becomes a building block to something greater! If you release a game that we are hosting for you as an app we also don't ask for anything from the profits made from that app, we just ask that our branding be included in the game. If two or more creators collaborate on something then it is required that you iron out the percentages each person would get ahead of beginning the project.
